SATURDAY, AUGUST 1
    Morning, Upward Trails ministry’s hike along the Lower Salmon River Trail near Mount Hood. An outing of 5 easy miles with 10-foot elevation gain. 503-668-8950 or upwardtrails.org
    7 a.m., Guided climb to Mount St. Helens summit sponsored by Ultimate Hunt, starting from Climbers Bivouac Trailhead at Cougas, Wash. Co-sponsored by the Mount St. Helens Creation Center in Castle Rock, Wash., and Glen’s Gizmos. A 7-hour trek of about 10 miles, with approximately 4,000 feet of elevation gain to the 8,365-foot crater rim summit.  Overnight camping available at the trail head the night before.
