THROUGH DECEMBER
    Christmas on the Campground, nightly through Dec. 31, Apostolic Faith Church campground, 5414 S.E. Duke St, Portland 97206.  Instead of the traditional one-weekend event here, because of COVID the public is invited simply to drive or stroll by the property to enjoy thousands of Christmas lights, a life-size Nativity and the tallest decorated Christmas tree in southeast Portland. Lights are on daily from dusk to dawn, and seasonal music also will play from 4:30 to 9:30 each evening. www.christmasonthecampground.com
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 2
    6:30 to 9 p.m., The War on Truth, a presentation by Christian journalist Anthony Harper, Church on the Rock, 500 S.W. Eaton Blvd., Battle Ground, Wash. 98604. A look at current news events.  Harper is publisher of the Intermountain Christian News in Boise, Idaho., and is a White House correspondent. THURSDAY, DECEMBER 3
    7 to 8:30 p.m., The Missing Piece, fundraising soup dinner and dessert for Alpha Northwest, Westside: A Jesus Church, 10500 SW Nimbus Ave T, Portland 97223. Alpha is an evangelistic course which seeks to introduce the basics of the Christian faith through a series of talks and discussion. Featured speaker is Craig Springer, Alpha USA executive director. FRIDAY, DECEMBER 4
    5:30 to 8 p.m. Nativity Lights outdoor Christmas event, first of nine presentations this month, The Neighborhood Church, 21065 S.W. Stafford Road, Tualatin 97062. Also on Dec. 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20.  A socially distanced event with walking paths and a multitude of Christmas lights.     6 to 9 p.m., The Lights at Morning Star, a drive-through Christmas lights and music experience, first of 11 evenings this month, Morning Star Community Church, 4775 27th Ave. S.E., Salem 97302.  Also on Dec. 5-6, 11-13, 18-20 and 23-24.     Upward Trails ministry hike on the Ramona Falls Loop in the Mount Hood National Forest.  A 4.5-mile hike with about 700-foot elevation gain. 360-644-4604 or upwardtrails.org

    Christmas Conference with Ed Underwood, first of three consecutive days, Cannon Beach Conference Center. Underwood is executive officer and lead counselor of Recentered Group. He helps churches build a high trust leadership culture and equip leaders to cultivate a disciple-making community. He has more than 40 years experience as a lead pastor in the Midwest, a church plant that grew into the largest church in a Pacific Northwest county, and the past 21 years as lead pastor of the historic Church of the Open Door in Southern California.     7 p.m., Let Us Behold Him Christmas program, first of five performances this weekend, Peoples Church, 4500 Lancaster Drive N.E. Salem 97305.     5 to 8 p.m., 33rd annual Live Nativity, outside Lynchwood Church of God,  3818 S.E. 174th Ave, Portland 97236.  A series of scenes depicting the birth and life of Jesus, this free program is staged outdors by volunteers from both churches.
