CORVALLIS — Kevin Ferguson of Willamette Valley Christian Supply moderated a panel of Northwest Christian authors Dec. 14 at the Corvallis bookstore. Taking part in the panel, which discussed the theme “Perservering in Writing,” were Kelly Coryell, Brian Robbins, Ross Holtz, Athena Dean Holtz, Patricia Lee, Rebecca DeMarino, Christina Suzann Nelson and Karen Barnett.

The panel discussion was part of a well-attended special evening event of fellowship, networking and awards aimed at encouraging the Christian publishing industry. Ferguson said it is designed to be an annual December gathering and that he hopes to see other independent Christian retailers nationally hold similar events.

With representatives of Oregon Christian Writers (OCW), Tyndale Publishing, Redemption Press and Points for Profit on hand, special awards also were given to Barnett and Nelson for their work in fiction and to Portland author and pastor John Mark Comer for his nonfiction work; Comer was unable to attend so Sue Milholer of OCW accepted the award on his behalf.
