Dozens carry symbol of hope to heart of city
A torrential rainfall broke just in time on Saturday, April 19 — the day before Easter — for the first Jesus Experiment Crosswalk, a visible expression of faith in Christ in downtown Portland.
About 70 people, in teams of three or four carrying wooden crosses in remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, followed a route from the Oregon Convention Center across the Willamette River by way of the Steel Bridge and through downtown before returning to the convention center.
The walk was organized and promoted by Scott Stuart and popular Portland-area Christian author Bill Perkins, who wrote The Jesus Experiment and who envisions the walk becoming a growing annual event. For more information go to jecrosswalk.com
