HILLSBORO — The Washington County Sheriff’s Office last month released a sketch of the man suspected of stabbing to death the daughter of a longtime Hillsboro pastor Aug. 19.
The drawing was made based on a description from a witness who reportedly saw the man at the time of the homicide in the area of the Timber Creek apartment complex in Cedar Mill, where Nicole Laube worked.
Married and a mother of four, Laube, 29, died at the scene. Before she died, Laube told a neighbor that the man who attacked her was wearing a dark hoodie and camouflage pants.
Police said it is unknown if Laube knew the man in the composite drawing.
Laube was the daughter of Pastor Rich and Jordi Jones of Calvary Chapel Worship Center in Hillsboro. Both Rich Jones and Laube’s husband, Chris, told KOIN-TV News that the release of the sketch gave them reason for optimism that the killer will ultimately be found.
Bob Ray with the sheriff’s office said they had received more than two dozen tips since the sketch was released.
Anyone who recognizes the man in the drawing or who has asdditional tips is asked to phone the sheriff’s office at 503-846-2500. A cash reward amounting now to $13,000 has been offered by private citizens for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer.
